Burke & Herbert Bank Sponsors 'Cuisine de Commerce' Food Drive Through Nov. 21

Drive Benefits Action in Community Through Service (ACTS)

Alexandria, VA – As part of its ongoing commitment to the community, Burke & Herbert Bank is pleased to be the Food Drive Sponsor of "Cuisine de Commerce" – a special luncheon event sponsored by the Prince William Chamber of Commerce. This year's food drive will benefit the Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) food pantry, which is tasked with feeding approximately 850 Prince William County families each month.

As the Food Drive Sponsor, Burke & Herbert Bank has extended the food drive beyond the luncheon to the Bank's local offices to help meet the growing needs of the ACTS food pantry. To contribute to the drive, donations of non-perishable items can be brought to any of the Bank's four Prince William County branches: 17119 Wayside Drive, Dumfries; 4605 Daisy Reid Avenue, Lake Ridge; 9103 Centreville Road, Manassas, and 14008 Smoketown Road, Woodbridge. Donations will be accepted through Saturday, November 21.

"As a local community bank and the oldest bank in Virginia, we believe it is important to support the communities in which we do business," said Terry Cole, Burke & Herbert Bank Senior Vice President. "We're pleased to have our branches serve as locations for collection of food donations in conjunction with the Prince William Chamber. We hope the Cuisine de Commerce Food Drive will inspire neighbors to share their bounty with those in need," she said.

"The Prince William Chamber and Burke & Herbert Bank have teamed up with a great idea. Everyone who comes to the event to eat lunch is also ensuring that someone else can eat dinner," remarked ACTS Chief Executive Officer Steven Liga. "This is creative community collaboration in action. ACTS is only able to do what we do for the community, because the community has always been here for ACTS."

The Chamber is promoting the food drive as part of its Cuisine de Commerce luncheon, a taste-bud-tingling event that features the specialties of 15 local restaurants and caterers. The event will be held Tuesday, November 10 at the Red Rose Event Center, 9705 Liberia Avenue, in Manassas. See the chamber's website, pwchamber.org, for pricing information and to register for the event.

The ACTS Food Pantry provides supplemental food assistance to families. Clients receive approximately a week's worth of groceries and may visit the pantry one time per month. For those who need food after-hours, ACTS provides bread at 3900 ACTS Lane, in the "Bread Shed." They also provide home delivery for qualifying homebound seniors.
