Email Phishing Alert

We have learned of an email phishing scheme that involves sending fraudulent email messages that claim to be a "Security message" from Burke & Herbert Bank. The email contains a link that, if you click on it, directs you to a page that looks like Burke & Herbert Bank's Online Banking site. However, it is a "phishing" site intended to trick you into submitting private information such as your Online Banking user ID and password.

What to Look Out For
The Subject Line of the email message says "You Have 1 New Security Message from Burke & Herbert Bank." The body of the email repeats the Subject Line and includes the link to the phishing site.

If you receive one of these messages, we recommend you delete it right away, and be sure not to click on the link within the message. Please contact us at 703-684-1655 to let us know if you received this fraudulent message.

Remember: Your Page Includes Verification Protection
Your Burke & Herbert Bank Online Banking login page includes an authorization image – one that you selected – to help you verify that you are on the legitimate, secure page. Always be sure your chosen image is visible before entering your Online Banking password.

Beware of any unsolicited email that asks for your personal information. Burke & Herbert Bank will never ask you to provide personal, confidential information via email.

If you have any questions, please call us at 703-684-1655 or stop by your local Burke & Herbert Bank branch.
