Apply for a mortgageBefore you begin
If you are currently employed:
- Most recent two years of W-2 forms
- Most recent month of pay stubs for all borrowers
- Most recent two years of Personal Federal Income Tax Returns (all pages and schedules)
- Copy of most recent two months of statements on all bank accounts (not needed for Burke & Herbert Bank accounts)
- Copy of most recent statements for all assets listed on Loan Application (brokerage accounts, IRA, 401(k), other accounts)
If you are self-employed:
- Most recent two years of Personal and Business Federal Income Tax Returns (all pages and schedules)
- Current year-to-date profit and loss statements
- Copy of most recent two months of statements on all bank accounts (not needed for Burke & Herbert Bank accounts)
- Copy of most recent statements for all assets listed on Loan Application (brokerage accounts, IRA, 401(k), other accounts)
- Copy of active business license (if applicable)
If you are retired:
- Most recent awards letter or monthly statement for all Social Security and pension income including proof of direct deposit in most recent two months of bank statements
- Most recent two years of 1099-R forms
- Most recent two years of Personal Federal Income Tax Returns
- Copy of most recent statements for all assets listed on Loan Application (brokerage accounts, IRA, 401(k), other accounts)
- Most recent profession for retired individuals
For purchase loans:
- Purchase contract signed by all parties
- Copy of earnest money check
For refinance loans:
- Copy of current monthly mortgage statement
- Copy of existing homeowners insurance policy and flood insurance and HOA statement (if applicable)
- Copy of existing title insurance policy, or Closing Disclosure/HUD-1 from your previous settlement that shows owner’s coverage
- Proof of HOA amounts for all condos
For all loans:
Copy of two forms of identification (ID), one of which must be government-issued with a photo. (Note: Per Federal regulations, the Bank does not photocopy or maintain copies of Military and Armed Forces IDs)
