Operation Renewed Hope Foundation to Benefit from 2021 Program
Alexandria, VA- Burke & Herbert Bank is pleased to announce that Operation Renewed Hope Foundation, a local Alexandria-based non-profit, will be the recipient of the Bank’s “Hundreds for Homes” donation during the 2021 National Hockey League (NHL) season. Through this sponsorship with NBC Sports Washington, Burke & Herbert Bank will donate $100 for every goal scored by the Washington Capitals during the regular hockey season to Operation Renewed Hope Foundation. The 2021 season marks the sixth season during which Burke & Herbert Bank has teamed up with NBC Sports Washington to raise awareness and direct funds to a worthy local non-profit.
Operation Renewed Hope Foundation (ORHF) is a non-profit organization that helps at-risk Veterans who are experiencing homelessness to obtain safe, permanent homes, and to overcome the root causes of homelessness and instability in their lives. The organization also coordinates with the Department of Veterans Affairs, state and local agencies, and faith-based organizations to secure everyday basics such as furniture and food, as well as services such as healthcare, counseling, education, and training for Veterans.
“We are delighted by the generosity of Burke & Herbert Bank and honored that Operation Renewed Hope Foundation was selected as this year’s donation recipient,” said LTC Deborah Snyder, USA, Retired, President and CEO. “In addition to the financial support from the Bank, we are excited about ‘Hundreds for Homes’ bringing more visibility to ORHF and our work to help at-risk Veterans break the cycle of homelessness, achieve stability and secure housing and employment. Hundreds for Homes gives all of us another great reason to root for our hometown Caps and makes us even bigger fans of Burke & Herbert Bank!”
The Bank started its popular donation sponsorship in 2015, in partnership with NBC Sports Washington, leveraging the excitement of the hockey season and the enthusiasm of Capitals on-air announcers Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin to help a deserving local non-profit organization. During the first three years of the sponsorship program the Bank supported a local children-focused non-profit, donating over $25,000 to Most Valuable Kids Inc. in 2016, Alice’s Kids, Inc. in 2017, and Connect our Kids, Inc. in 2018. And, for the past two seasons, the Bank supported housing-related causes, with more than $28,000 going to Rebuilding Together DC-Alexandria in 2019, and to Homestretch, Inc. in 2020.
“We are happy to be able to continue the “Burke & Herbert Bank Hundreds for Homes” program again this year and support the important work of another great non-profit in our community,” said Terry Cole, Executive Vice President at Burke & Herbert Bank. “We believe that the Bank has an important role to play in helping people in need right here in our neighborhood. Through the Hundreds for Homes program and this season’s partner, Operation Renewed Hope Foundation, we will provide significant assistance to local Veterans and their families.” She added, “We are pleased to welcome ORHF as our Hundreds for Home donation recipient this season and excited about our continued partnership with NBC Sports Washington.”
